Dutch Twist, ridden by Lindsay Pearce and owned by Patricia Pearce was fatally injured while competing in the Open Intermediate division at The Fork Horse Trials in Norwood, North Carolina, USA on April 7, 2007.

Dutch Twist, an eleven-year-old bay gelding fell while negotiating Jump #3, "The Stone Fenced Table," a portable fence. The fence stayed stationary during the incident, and there were no other incidents at this fence during the competition. The horse was attended to immediately by a staff of veterinarians and transported by an on-site, state-of-the-art horse ambulance.

Lindsay and Dutch Twist had been competing successfully this spring with a recent 2nd place finish in Prelim at Rocking Horse and 3rd at Red Hills. Our thoughs are with Lindsay and Patricia. This is a such a sad loss.
