2007 New Zealand Trans Tasman Eventing Team Announced

The Eventing New Zealand selectors have named a five strong team to meet Australia in next month’s Trans Tasman equestrian challenge.
Amongst the riders named are Athens Olympian Matthew Grayling, along with the current national one day champion Emily Butcher of Canterbury and Otago’s Clarke Johnstone, who recently claimed the New Zealand round of the FEI World Cup series.
Five squad riders and one reserve have been announced, with the final team of four to be named after the the first veterinary inspection at the Bell Tea Taupo National Championships from May 18 – 21, 2007.
The full New Zealand list is:
- Emily Butcher (Canterbury) Southern Ben
- Matthew Grayling (Taranaki) Gordon
- Clarke Johnstone (Otago) Oakley Vision
- Bryce Newman (Bulls) Bates Our Questionnaire
- Blair Richardson (formerly Te Awamutu – now based in New South Wales) Maximum Overkill
Reserve: Lucy Jackson (Waikato) Red Stag Mystery Creek
The team will be managed by former Olympic and World Champion Blyth Tait.
Australia announced their team in March.
