This from British Eventing:

It is with deepest regret that we announce that Jo-Anne Williams suffered an  accident whilst competing at Sapey One Day Event in Worcestershire, UK on Tuesday 17th April and later died in hospital.

Jo-Anne Williams (34) was from Llanfaethlu, Holyhead, Anglesey and married.

The accident was at fence eight on the novice course. The horse, Shannandoah, a 14 year old dark bay gelding owned by Jo-Anne with 28 British Eventing points, number 228 in Open Novice Section E, was uninjured.

Alex Fox, Chairman of British Eventing, said: “On behalf of the whole sport, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to Jo-Anne’s family. The thoughts and prayers of eventing people all over the country are with them at this sad time.”

According to The Worcester News, Jo-Anne suffered a serious head injury and later died from her injuries after she was airlifted to Selly Oak Hospital. The horse was uninjured.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this sad time.
